TASK TWO
Take the students on a treasure hunt around the school to find any discarded materials that they feel they could make something with. ( This is also a good time to clean up the school and ensure all rubbish is put into the bin.)
Before the students begin their treasure hunt, discuss the safety requirements and risk factors associated with this activity.
Once back at class go through all the items that were collected and as a class come up with new materials or objects that could be created from the trash.
Discuss with the class some of the reasons they feel we should reduce, reuse, recycle.
How can we help others and the environment by recycling?
Watch the you tube clip about creating homeless shelters from recycled materials.
After watching the clips see if the students can add to the list of things they can create from the rubblish collection
Try to create a list of things that can be made from recycled materials which can help the environment.
